Strengthening the dance sector and supporting dance artists in Ethiopia.

Recent News

In July 2021, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ethiopia presented awards to cultural and arts professionals in Ethiopia. This is the first time in Ethiopian history when dance artists were recognized at the national level, on par with artists of other artistic disciplines. This recognition became reality as a result of EDAA leaders’ advocacy at the level of the Ministry.

The founding of Ethiopian Dance Art Association (EDAA) is a milestone towards sustained support and recognition for Ethiopian dance in our country and internationally. We are proud that this historical step was taken by our generation of Ethiopian dancers.

  • Our Work

Through funding from the International Fund for Cultural Diversity, UNESCO, Ethiopian Dance Art Association is implementing the project “Strengthening Capacities within the Dance Sector in Ethiopia.”

  • Books for Africa

EDAA has partnered with Books for Africa to build a dance library for the Association. We have appealed to 12 publishers and over 20 universities in the U.S. to offer books on dance and dance research. Our goal is to have 2000 dance-related books shipped to EDAA in fall 2022. Please contact us if you are interested in donating your books or to our fundraising efforts.
